Passion Project
Downtown Condo
Dreams keep us going. I’ve always dreamt of living in Downtown Memphis and lucky for me, my wife had a similar dream. We decided to keep our eye on the market and put out feelers to sell our place, 2 weeks later we fell in love with a fixer-upper.
South Main Gallery Condominiums
417 South Main was one of the first buildings in downtown to be converted into a residential building in the 1980s. This condo was owned by a part-time resident of Memphis, who really used it as a hotel. Katie, my wife, took some convincing to take a look at this FSBO because it was packed with oversized furniture ontop of office carpet. As always, she trusted my adventurous spirit and we saw the potential.
We knew a major renovation would not be feasible since Katie was in the middle of law school ($$$) at the time. To save some money, we tackled projects like tearing out carpet, installing new 16 light fixtures, staging our art, hanging new doors, configuring new closet systems, painting cabinets, setting up a smart home system including a fingerprint lock for our front door. We hired professionals to lay new vinyl plank flooring.
